Images have stopped showing on posts

    My site has suddenly just stopped showing images in posts. They are all there in the admin/edit screen and the HTML points to the correct image tags.

    And the front page is fine as all the thumbnails there are generated as ‘Featured Images’.

    But any image placed as ‘Insert Into Post’ doesn’t appear in the post despite working as expected in edit screen.

    I’ve diabled plugins, tried a different template, checked my media settings and upload folder path. Can’t figure out the problem as I have changed nothing on the site and it worked flawlessly for three or four months.

    If you’ve done all that I think the images are not inserted in the post content. Try inserting images with all plugins deactivated and on the default theme.

    The images are definitely inserted. I agree there seems to be no call for them in the page source code but this is a screengrab from the edit screen for the second link mentioned above, showing they are there.

    No, they had disappeared as well but they reappeared when I entered the absolute path into Settings > Media. But the inserted images in posts, as above, have vanished!

    I’ve narrowed down the problem somewhat.

    It appears now that the posts affected are because I have applied a featured image setting. So that seems to cancel out the insertion of the same image into the post.

    If I don’t have a featured image but do insert into a post then it works OK.

    Anyone know why this might be? It worked fine before!

    try:
    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
