• Hello, please help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I got help from Host and so far I am inserting my images into the correct folder. The one that shows under settings>miscellaneous

    wp-content/uploads

I am still not able to see the images in the library. I have the uploads folder with 777 permissions, and the organize my images into months…unchecked.

What am I missing still? Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Uploading your images via FTP directly to the wp-content/uploads directory will not show them in the Media Library. The Media Library gets its information from your WordPress database – the only way to upload an image and have it included in the Library is to upload it through the Media Library.

Log in to your dashboard and go to Media >> Add New. This interface will allow you to upload your images directly to the site and they will now appear in your Media Library.

If you’re uploading images for use in a post, upload them directly from the post editor. Go to Posts >> Add New and write your post like you normally would. To add a new image, put your cursor where you’d like the image to display and then click the first icon to the right of the words Upload/Insert. This will allow you to upload the image directly and insert it into your post. Afterwards, the image will appear in the Media Library for future use.

Thanks Ericmann, I was trying to kill a dead bird here.

I usually do it the way you explained. I thought I could transfer files the same way as I do with themes. i.e. using Filezilla.

BTW, if I am using Thesis theme, does that make a difference how I need to upload images?

    Happy New Year.

Generally, it will not matter even with the thesis them.

The only images you will need to FTP are the images in that special “Media Box” that is sometimes used. Whatever images you put in there will be grabbed at random to fill that box.

    Those go in:
