Images load but don't show on staging

Thanks for taking a look! From what I can tell, I need to fix the permalink (so that new images will show) by doing this: “create a custom .htaccess for apache webserver or adjust the nginx.conf.” Can you let me know if I’m on the right track and/or if there’s an easier way for me to remedy? I’m not sure I have the tech skills to make those changes…

Unfortunately i can not reproduce that issue. Using the media uploader on the staging site and embedding the uploaded image into the post editor works well with the wordpress default theme.

Please activate twentysixteen theme on your staging site and check if this is working. Than we know your theme is causing that issue

Thanks so much for looking into this for me! I really appreciate it. I didn’t think about it being a theme issue. I will switch to the twentysixteen theme, and try it again.

Hi Rene,
I tried the suggested Twenty Sixteen theme, but after making it active, I added a new image to my library, and it does the same thing. It loads the image, but just shows a “?” in place of the thumbnail.

i am really soory to hear that this can not be fixed for you. Now i am a little bit clueless what is causing this behavior on your system.

Are there any image related plugins used? Please deactivate all plugins on yur staging site to check if the issue persists and than let me know.

I tried that — I deactivated the other plugins, but still wasn’t having luck with the images. I think I’ll set it aside for now. Maybe try again later. That sometimes does the trick.
