• I’ve been using this plugin without issue for several years. After yesterday’s update, images at the top of a post are no longer showing in the excerpt. For our purposes this is vital. What happened?

I have rolled back to the previous version. Hoping this will be addressed in a future update.

I experienced the same issue. Update 4.9.5 removed images from the top of a post. I too had to roll back to resolve the issue.

It appears 4.9.5 was intended to fix a broken functionality in plugin settings which enables the stripping of image caption text from the excerpt, but went a bit too far.

You could try deselecting the related parameter in the plugin settings to see whether this is an effective work-around, but it probably offers no advantages over simply not updating to 4.9.5.

    Hi,

Version 4.2.5 fixes the “remove shortcodes from excerpt” functionality ( as @mrffp mentioned ). That option was not working as it should have. It’s on by default but it didn’t make a difference.

After updating simply go to WP admin > Settings > Excerpt, uncheck the checkbox for that option.

You could try deselecting the related parameter in the plugin settings to see whether this is an effective work-around, but it probably offers no advantages over simply not updating to 4.9.5.

At the moment it’s the same whether you keep the old version or update and disable the option. But there will likely be more updates in the future so I suggest updating now and then simply disabling the option.

Thank you. Unchecking “remove shortcodes from excerpt” solves the image issue in version 4.2.5.

You’re welcome, happy to hear it’s sorted out.

And sorry for the confusion, the previous owner/developer of the plugin just added the option, made it on by default but the option didn’t do anything, on or off it didn’t make a difference.

After update ALL images used by WP Jetpack plugin to create Tiled Mosaic Galleries disappeared – was unable to restore them by turning off the plugin – had to restore the site to previous iteration that was before the UPDATE.

    Hi,

The only difference from the previous version is that the excerpt being outputted is stripped of shortcodes ( unless the option is disabled ).

It does not alter the actual excerpt or content stored in the database, only alters the output if the plugin is active and the option previously mentioned is active.

Is the only thing that was updated our plugin?

Any chance I could get access to the website and WP admin to test it out? I’m guessing the chances are low so if not can I perhaps get the XML export so I can recreate the situation on my installation and see if I can replicate the issue? In any case, don’t share those details here, it’s a public forum, you can send it to my email skustrimovic at gmail com
