Images missing from Media Library after update

  • Back in early June or late May I updated WordPress. Then I noticed that ALL the images that were uploaded via the WP media library interface prior to the update are no longer listed in the media library, but are still showing up in the older posts that they are attached to. I already selected “Show all dates” and it still only displays images from 6/2011 til now. I already downloaded and installed the Hotfix plugin and it does nothing. And NO, I don’t have any other plugins even installed, so that’s not the issue. I’ve seen many other posts regarding this issue, but no one has an answer except for “install the Hotfix plugin and voila!” Other posts don’t have an answer and the request remains unresolved. Please – PLEASE – somebody help!

    Again:

    1. Older images not showing up in Media Library after update of WordPress

    2. Already installed Hotfix plugin to no avail.

    3. No other plugins installed.

  • Have you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    At risk of having my client’s website turn to crap, no, I haven’t. It’s live, so how could I go about doing so without making my clients have a heart attack?

    OK. So I just switched to the TwentyTen theme and checked the Media Library and it still only shows images uploaded since 06/2011…

    Then it sounds like someone may have changed the uploads folder location some time before 06/11.

    Not sure who, since I’m the only admin and no one has access to the Dashboard settings except me. It happened immediately after updating to 3.0. So if there’s something in 3.0 that is different from 2.x that would cause the locations to change, then I need to know what it is. The images are sitting in the same folders, the links to them work in the posts, they display fine, but they just don’t show up in the Media Library–not even in a search. The “Show pages for” pull-down only shows 06/2011 and 07/2011. Very frustrating, and I know I’m not the only one experiencing this.

    Yes. I just wrote above that the images are sitting in the same folders. I am able to download them. I can see them in the FTP folder. I can see them embedded in their original blogs. And their paths are identical to the current ones, with the exception of year/date.

    May image paths BEFORE upgrade: wp-content/uploads/2011/05/
    July image paths AFTER upgrade: wp-content/uploads/2011/07/

    No. I stated in my original post that the upgrade to 3.0 took place in either late May or early June, which is why the files only show up in the Media Library for 06/2011 and 07/2011. I’ve been trying to find an answer to this because I want the Media Library to export ALL the images and not just the ones that it seems to only recognize starting in June.

    I’ve got exactly the same problem, still no solutions ?

    Seems like everyone knows it’s an issue, but no one knows how to fix it. The only “fix” is to reupload everything from before the snafu. Sounds like a huge task. Maybe they can write a plugin? Oh wait, the Hotfix plugin… But that doesn’t fix anything concerning this issue. At least not for me. Lickity lame.

    I am experiencing the same problem but with even new pictures i am uploading. Can someone help me too? Please?
