    Hi.

I like the idea of using Google’s Recaptcha at login, so I tried your Plug-in.
What I didn’t know was that part of the Login procedure now involves identifying images based on a question that is asked.
I can’t see any reference to this in any of the documentation, nor do I see a way to disable this and just have the checkbox.
Is there a way to do this?

    Regards

    Hiya,

Google reCaptcha uses a variety of techniques to try to determine if a human being is interacting with the page. Sometimes it’s impossible to tell. So, it falls back on this alternate method:

    https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/faq#some-users-are-not-seeing-the-checkbox-recaptcha-widget-whats-happening

There’s no way to disable it, as it’s a security feature provided by Google to make sure the bots don’t get through. Fortunately, it’s fairly rare that I see it (though I do sometimes–I must be bot-like in my behaviour sometimes).

    Hope that helps.

    Best,
    Robert

    Thanks Robert.
It seems to occur more if I clear my Browser Cache.
Anyway, regardless, you have answered my question.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re dropping cookies as part of the strategy to know you’re human, though I doubt they would rely on that solely as it’s easily spoof-able.
