@dvdfever – So you are trying to say the Lightbox Effect is no longer working for NextGEN Gallery … have you tried testing to see if it is a conflict with another active plugin?

    – Cais.

When viewing the source your image links have a class of \”thickbox\” instead of “thickbox”

@ccgjosh – I would think this would be a different issue than what the OP is describing, please feel free to start your own topic on this issue (although my first thought would be something is interfering with how the escaping of \"thickbox\" is being handled).

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

@photocrati – same issue here as ccgjosh described when upgrading to 2.0.65.

@photocrati – Can you please check if the $effect_code in your plugin get rid of the \ properly? Currently the output is \”thickbox\” rather than just “thickbox” which make photos will not open in a popup window.

@codingpet – We’re not seeing this issue on any of our test sites, perhaps you would like to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a look at it on your site?

We would also likely need to get log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation as well, please include those with the Bug Report.

@ccgjosh – You are welcome to send a Bug Report as well.

    Thanks!

I haven’t tried disabling any other plugins, but I’ve got a lot running and I know that NextGen was fine with those before the update to both WP and NextGen.

Also, what is ‘thickbox’? I’m not familiar with that.

DVDfever, “thickbox” is one of the available plugins that give you the floaty effect you no longer have. It’s a javascript plugin that works with jQuery. There are several available with NextGen.

I’m also getting this problem (the whole \”thickbox\” thing mentioned above – escaped quotes) – its getting to the point where I’m going to go into the MySql database and try and update the affected fields. Wish me luck…

Any of the galleries here – https://www.leopardsbasketball.co.uk/galleries/leopards-v-london-lions-22-sept-2013/

If you view the source of the page – you’ll see the \”thickbox\” problem. When I try to change to a different library, I get a nasty-looking 412 error.

Hope it goes well and thanks for the info, coldnebraskablue.

However, what are NextGen looking to do to fix this? NextGen is a great product, but this issue has completely knackered it.

    photocrati, can you help, please?

@coldnebraskablue & @dvdfever – We’re not able to reproduce the issue with the “escaped” thickbox reference, would you be able to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) with your site specifics so we can see this in action under the page.

We will need log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation, please include those with your Bug Report.

    Thanks!

I’ve just submitted a bug report, thanks, but I’m not comfortable with giving all my login details. I’m not the only person having the same issue, so surely you can find out what the problem is?

@dvdfever – We can appreciate you not wanting to provide credentials to a production site, perhaps you can create a test mirror of the site and reproduce the issue there where you can share those credentials as we are not able to reproduce the issue being seen.

    Thanks!

Hi, I’m not sure how to make a test mirror of it (and there’s a lot on the site) but isn’t there a way to restore the previous version of the plugin without affecting anything else? I wish I hadn’t updated it now ??

And if I disable other plugins and somehow make this plugin work as it is now, then that’ll just affect something else on the site, surely?

For anyone else who’s had this same issue, haven’t you been able to ascertain the reason for the issue from them?

    (@photocrati)

@dvdfever – This article will help you with rolling back to a previous version: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/

Using the standard troubleshooting technique of cycling through all of the active plugins may help to point to a particular issue either as a conflict or something else relevant to the site. Keeping *all* active plugins up-to-date also helps to minimize the potential for older conflicts to be experienced.
