• I realize this is most likely user error and may be addressed somewhere already (I’ve tried the fixes listed in the topics I’ve come across and maybe I’m just screwing it up) but we are having a bear of a time figuring out what is going on with our posts. We are both very new to wordpress and I am sure it is user error like so many other things in life.

The page in question is located at

    https://www.truenightstudios.com/BGP/national-library-week/

the pokemon card within the table is supposed to centered, and the second Eoin Colfer image should also be centered.

I know I’m doing something wrong, but I’m getting frustrated at this point and am sure I’m just looking voer it.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me, I haven’t done any of this since 2000 or so… I’m out of the loop!

  • You have a lot of mark-up errors so I’d start by cleaning those up. You also have a LOT of empty tags and useless layout divs — what theme is that?

When you’ve fixed the above, see centering with CSS.

That’s probably a result of us playing with this same post for days trying to fix it, we’re noobs. I should have followed the age old advice…don’t keep writing on a dirty page… get a new page.

it’s a free theme, this isn’t a problem I’ve had with my own theme on my side of our site. Thanks for the help, we’ll start over with a fresh page and be sure not to copy our errors over and over again. I’ll also get to reading that link you sent.

I’m not sure I see the markup errors you are talking about on the post itself, except for a few extra spaces that didn’t need to be there.

The theme itself we haven’t done anything to, it’s likely just a sloppy theme?

See “>Validating a Site — this is considered fairly important by most web designers/developers. It’s one reason to only use themes from a “trusted” source. Some of the errors are not actually a problem — but a result of changing standards/browser differences. But you do have some unclosed tags, elements in illegal places, etc.
