Images Not Loading on Site or in Media Backend

Hello

I am having a persistent problem with my website not loading images to the site and now, as I have just discovered, they are not visible in the media folder in the backend either (although they are there with all the details – just not showing the actual image).

I contacted my host and they said it’s a wordpress issue. I have spent all morning disabling my plugins to see if that somehow affected them although I have not updated anything in months and this appears to have just broken of it’s own accord.

When I read the support things on how to fix it it’s like I am reading a completely different language and I feel frustrated and stupid. Any easy to understand advice would be really helpful. Thanks so much.
