Images NOT organized into month- and year-based folders

  • I started using my website in 2008 and only around 2013 did I realize that I didn’t have the “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” option checked. So I have thousands of images directly into the WP-Content>Upload folder. It takes forever to load on FTP and if I was to move them manually into the year/month folders, I would have to then go back to every post and manually re-add them to refresh the link.

    Is there a plugin that can move my images into year/month folders and that will also update the links of the images in the posts?

    I don’t think there is any plugin that will do this for you.

    This is something that requires manual work. But if you are understand the MYSQL database then you can change the location of the images, rename images and change the links in the database directly without going into each post. But, again this does require manual work up to some extend.
