Images not responsive

Is there a reason why the images being generated are dropping all the new code in 4.4 for responsive images. Doesn’t it also make sense to have images that adapt to the width of a screen in mobile?

I do get the impression that the code for these pages is not responsive ie RWD; Is this why the images are not responsive either?
