• Here is an imgur link containing 4 images of ActivityPub created federated WordPress posts:

    Image 1 Details:
Created by ActivityPub nearly three weeks ago. It represents the desired ActivityPub output. I can’t seem to replicate this appearance anymore.

    Image 2 Details:
ActivityPub > Settings > Note. Appears to create space for the image, but the image never appears on federated platforms. No image also means no Pixelfed post is created.

    Image 3 Details:
ActivityPub > Settings > WP-Post-Format. Creates a link preview card. Images and text are not displayed on Mastodon. No image also means no Pixelfed post is created.

    Image 4 Details:
ActivityPub > Settings > Article. Displays as a simple link as expected ??. No text or image sent, obviously.

How can I remedy this issue & federated posts that more closely represent Image 1 (Text, Image, link.

hey @xizor thanks for your report! Can you share some real links, so that I can maybe check the output of your site? FYI to see what will be sent to mastodon & others, you can simply add /activitypub at the end of your posts permalink. Do you maybe use a CDN feature for your images? Maybe Jetpack?

@pfefferle Thank you for your attention on this matter.

    Answers to your questions:

    • CDN is Purged & Paused (I use Cloudflare. Do you recommend ideal CDN Settings?)
    • Caching is Purged & Deactivated.
    • This is the Blog Archive Page for my site.

Note: The most-recent nine blog entries (at the time of this forum post) represent all possible combinations of ActivityPub Plugin settings. I tried them all, yet was simply unable to find a combination I was seeking.

In looking at “selected-post/activitypub” – the image URL does represent the correct location of the image.

OK, had a quick look and everything seems fine so far. The issue with images that will be added to the content is a WordPress issue. We use the get_attachments method and WordPress only add images as attachments if you upload them through the editor, while creating a new blog-post. I know that this is not perfect and we are discussing other possibilities, but I am not sure when we will be able to “fix” the issue.

@pfefferle Thank you on the insight to using the attachment method. Uploading images to the post directly rather than selecting an existing image from the media library works.

Follow up question: is there an activity pub settings combination which will display either:

    • Text, Image, Preview Card
    • Text, Image, Link

Reasonably accomplished what I am looking for. This can be closed.

The Preview Card is not part of the ActivityPub spec. Mastodon uses Open Graph to get some infos about a blog post.

I would use “custom” in you case, this allows you da add whatever you want, using shortcodes.
