images not showing

    Hi,

    Since the New year, all my images have stopped showing. They are still there in my media contents/uploads though.

    I am not aware of any recent changes I have made (I did have a bunch of permission and ownership problems after installing IT themes security for a while – not totally resolved, but I am not sure it is related to this).

    I have checked hot-linking – not that.
    I have de-activated all plugins – not that.
    I have uploaded a new image and made a post – that works fine.

    The images are definitely there un /uploads/ and some of them do show. I can see no difference in permissions or ownership between the ones that show and the ones that don’t.

    For the ones that do not show up, I can neither see them in the Media library (just a question mark over a pace-holder) and I get a “page not found” error when I link to them directly.

    I am at a loss, so any suggestions would be very welcome.

    well, blow me over and call me “windswept”.

    It was a permalink issue; Somehow I must have changed it from “day and name” to “month and name” and didn’t notice the subtle difference.

    Setting it back to “day and name” fixed my issue.

    …I am a little surprised though that changing the permalink makes some images disappear whilst all posts are still fine.

    Hope this helps someone else one day.
