Images Not Showing In XML Sitemap
-
Hello,
The vast majority of my images are not being shown in my XML sitemap for my posts (https://charlie.weathertogether.net/post-sitemap.xml), but some are. I imported a lot of my posts from google blogger, and the images that have urls linking back to that blog (which is still online at charliesweatherforecasts.blogspot.com) are not counted in the post sitemap. Even in the posts I’ve written with WordPress, the vast majority of the images aren’t indexed. The fact that just a few are is quite confusing.
In WordPress, I upload images using the WP Offload S3 plugin by Delicious Brains, which copies files from your WordPress Media Library to Amazon S3 and rewrites URLs to serve the files from S3. For example, in a recent post (https://charlie.weathertogether.net/2018/06/05/storm-chasing-day-3-the-dust-front/), I upload an image (ex: https://weathertogether.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2018/06/microburst.jpg) and then this is copied to S3 and becomes https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/weathertogether.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2018/06/microburst.jpg.
In this example, the image href in my post is also https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/weathertogether.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2018/06/microburst.jpg, and the src is https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/weathertogether.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2018/06/microburst-1024×683.jpg
I wonder if this URL revision with the WP Offload S3 plugin is part of the problem, as my emailed posts (via Jetpack) automatically serve the original, non-s3 images even though the post itself has the S3 urls when it is published.
If anybody can tell me why I’m having this problem and point me in the right direction to solve it, that’d be fantastic. My SEO is really suffering from this since almost none of my many images are visible to search engines.
