Hey I figured it out, I have to set a featured image… and it is working ?? As I said I am really new to wordpress (first day)… however I have another question –

If I want my static page to have a design similar to the main page i.e. squares with images, and those images each go into a particular regular static page, how can I do that?

    Thanks,

    Sanjeev

    Hi Sanjeev,

    Thanks for choosing Tracks!

It looks like you’ve since figured it out with this post. If the image is added with the Featured Image box in the Post editor, it will show above the title like that and on the homepage.

Looks like we posted at the same time ??

The layout used for the Blog currently relies on Posts, so it can’t be replicated with Pages. That said, one way to create a different set of Posts would be to use a Category archive. You could link to the Category page in your menu (our tutorial), and it would then show only the Posts you’ve put into that Category.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks so much for your answers, but I was asking something a little different.

Imagine my homepage features your beautiful rectangular tiles with text on one half and an image on the other half.

When I click on one of the posts it takes me to a page that has the main image very large on top and the text under it.

What I was thinking was what if I can click on the post on my homepage and then go into an inner page that also has posts in it in the same style, and when you click on these posts then they go to the regular page with big image and text.

Basically another homepage layer after the first homepage…

Do see if that is possible as it would really help me…

    Thanks,

    Sanjeev

    Hi Ben,

I think I have figured it out… please tell me if this will work..

From each post on the main homepage, I will link to another site on a subdomain with the same theme, thus directing them to the homepage of another similar subdomain site. This way I can connect each post to different subdomains and different homepages with the same theme…

In all the subdomains websites, I can keep the home link as that of the main website!

My question is can I direct the posts of the main homepage to other websites?

    Regards,

    Sanjeev

    Sanjeev,

I think this may be confusing for visitors, and tough to maintain. That said, it is possible and can be done by using multi-site and 301 redirects. A 301 would allow you to redirect a post to a subdomain instead.

    Hi Ben,

Would it be possible to share some link/resource which can show me how to do multi-site and 301 redirects?

    Thanks,

    Sanjeev

    Hi Ben,

I used the redirection plugin and it is working, thanks.
