Images repeating and skewing.

My images are skewing and repeating with out need. Half of the images work and the other half get repeated on the bottom of the tile. tiles and posts featured images are set to the same size. This has happened when they were larger as well. Even when the images seem to be the right size they are stretched and cropped. Is there any way to make the entire post size and images a standard px size?
