Images stop displaying after 5 minutes

  • Testing with just a few simple slides, text over background image and image alone. Scaled the images to 1920 wide. After 5 minutes of displaying correctly, the images disappear (display as just white screen) but the text continues to display. Tested on a Chromebit, Mac and PC and in Chrome and Safari with the same result. Can you help?

    Hi @hereforthebeer, sounds like in your set up the loading of new slide content, which happens every 5 minutes, triggers a problem. Maybe something related to the theme or plugins you are using.

    This is not a known issue so let’s see what’s happening.

    @mennolui Hi, I’m having this same issue. I haven’t been using text, but images stop to load and just show a white screen while videos still load like normal.

    Hi @zerepa,

    My guess is this is caused by a ‘lazy load images’ plugin or a ‘lazy load images’ feature in your theme. Do you have something like that enabled?

    Could you try and see what happens when you disable this feature?

    If this doesn’t fix it.. Could you try and see what happens with the twentynineteen or twentytwenty theme enabled instead of your chosen theme and with all plugins deactivated? Let me know what you find and we’ll go from there.

    @mennolui I didn’t have any plugins by either of those names. I enabled the twentytwenty theme and disabled all the other plugins except for Foyer and the two that WordPress manages. I’m running into the same issue. It happens for images uploaded as PNG or JPG.

    Could this somehow be related to a timer or a timing issue? It seems like it sometimes misses a slide (usually the first one) and after running for a while, it seems like the timers are “growing” randomly.

    I’ve got a pristine installation to test with. It has very few plugins and is using the TwentySeventeen theme.

    I can’t reproduce this problem. So far there are no know issues with images not displaying after 5 minutes (other than issues related to lazy loading, eg. Jetpack).

    Could you send me more detailed input so I can try and reproduce this myself? That way I can solve this issue for you.
