• Hi,

One of my clients uses NextGen Gallery. He created a several galleries and only one of them transported the photos to the normal library.

I understood that this should be done at all times, so images are available everywhere.

How can we solve this problem?

If needed, I can provide login details, so please let me know.

By the way: all software is up to date.

@hvh – I’m not sure what you are referring to with “… transported the photos to the normal library.” Can you provide any more details on this comment?

    Thanks!

    Hi Cais/photocrati,

Sorry for my late response; I was on vacation. What I mean with “transported the photos to the normal library” is as it says: the photos uploaded in that particular NextGen Gallery are visible in the standard WordPress library. Like it should be. But the photos in all other Galleries aren’t. They are only visible in the NextGen plugin.

This should not be the case, so… [1] what is happening here? And [2] how can this be solved?

Thanks for your help in advance!

@hvh – NextGEN Gallery does not use the WordPress Media Library. The only real method of seeing the NextGEN Gallery images within the WordPress Media Library is if you use the “Add Media” button in a post or page and select NextGEN Gallery as the source for the image(s) you want to use, but even then this is restricted to the Featured Image option or the use of our SinglePic option … any other methods would be implementing a third-party approach (which we would not be providing specific support for).

    Hi Cais,

Thanks for your quick and clear response. May a suggest the plugin authors to integrate NextGen with the WP Library? That would be logical… I remember reading somewhere that this integration already existed and that that’s the reason I chose this plugin. It’s a pitty that it’s different actually.

I’ll communicate your suggestion to my client anyway.

    Have a great day!

@hvh – You are more than welcome to suggest further integration with the WordPress Media Library as a Feature Request item here: https://imagely.com/feature-voting/ but as it is, we do have specific plans to replace the NextGEN Gallery library management methods with the WordPress Media Library methods but we also definitely appreciate the feedback as well.

    Thanks!

    @cais,

Thanks. That replacement sounds great. Can you tell me more about it? What can we expect from this?

If it meets the question/need I posted here, I won’t bother you with my request…

@hvh – My apologies, it seems I missed an important word, this should have read:

… we do _not_ have specific plans to replace the NextGEN Gallery library management methods with the WordPress Media Library …

Aha, that is an important word indeed.

A replacement isn’t necessary, but integration would be nice. I’ll make a request.

@hvh – Our current integration only exists as the Import from the WordPress Media Library under Gallery > Add Gallery / Images. Definitely feel free to expand upon that premise.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
