images won't load

Hi,
I cannot get images to load to pages. I am using the theme ‘virtue’, with WP, theme, and all plugins, including easy-image-gallery on most recent versions. When editing a page, I can load images from the library to the page-edit area, but when I update the page they disappear and do not show on the public page. I have tried swapping themes to 2013 and problem persists. I tried deactivating all other plugins also. I have three other websites with easy image gallery working perfectly, and it I love the way it just works, but this has me stumped.
