Images won't load, cant switch from visual to text, cant add tags,

  • Hello-

    Within the last twenty four hours I cannot add any images, I click on the media icon as Ive always done, and nothing. I try to switch to text from visual and nothing. I cannot add any tags, or switch to most used categories. My site is https://hellodollface.com

    I am so tech UNsavvy but I did the following- Cleared the cache. Uninstall all plugins then try to load photos, that did not work. Reintalled the latest version of WordPress. Tried using Firefox instead of IE had the same problems. Uninstalled every plugin one by one, didnt work. Also I cannot use bulk actions to mark several messages as spam.

    I am so frustrated that I want to bang my head against the wall. Does anyone know what this could be? Im hoping one of you can put the pieces together for me and its something completely obvious to a smarter more savvy person that I.

    PS I dont know any code so please give me simple idiot proof directions.

    I am no expert and don’t know why it is happening but experienced both the add media button not working and I seem unable to select TEXT so cannot edit in html. I found your post because I googled the same thing!

    I have gotten around the both.

    1. media button – I downloaded the plugin in “faster image insert” and this allows you to insert images (scroll down in your page as it opens below your text)

    2. html – go into “edit my profile” (top right) and tick “disable visual editor” at the top. When you go into your page you will be in html (and need to go back in to profile to reactivate). I’ve been happily switching between the two!

    Good luck! I suspect it is theme related – I am using Pilotfish.

    It sounds like something has broken the JavaScript that’s used on your site. Sometimes it only takes one character wrong to block everything from working – and it’s a very frustrating and long road to find out where the problem is.

    The first thing to try is to disable every (yes every) plugin, and switch to the default WordPress theme (Twenty Twelve or Twenty Eleven). That should take you back to a plain and default installation where everything is working correctly.

    From there, you can re-enable your plugins one-by-one – and test the site after enableing each one. That will let you see which plugin is causing this.

    If all of the plugin are enabled and the problem doesn’t happen, swap to your chosen theme, and see what happens then.

    If all else fails, you can use a browser that will show you javascript error messages. It’s going into a bit of techy territory, but it will show you where the error is.

    Hello! Thanks for the tips. I did what you said, switched themes but its still doing the same thing. I couldnt load photos in the twenty twelve thing either.

    Im so upset and frustrated here!

    I dont know what to look for with a java error message?

    Any more help is appreciated. Ill try everything!
