• My Site Health Check is saying that “The optional module, imagick, is not installed, or has been disabled.” My phpinfo says the module is installed and is enabled. The Site Health info shows the Media Handling Device Editor is WP_Image_Editor_GD.

Does anyone know how to switch editors without delving into the code?

  • I suggest you to ask your hosting tech support to properly enable the ImageMagick support on your server.

Keep in mind that this is an optional module. It is preferred to have it, but it is not required at present

Here is how to install it if you are using cPanel hosting:

    1. Login to your WHM installation (https://:2087)
    2. Go to WHM -> Software -> Module Installers -> PHP Pecl (manage)
    3. In the box below ‘Install a PHP Pecl’ enter: imagick.
    4. Click the ‘Install Now’ button.
    5. Imagick will now be automatically installed by WHM on your cPanel server.

Obviously if you aren’t the hosting provider, you will need to ask them to do this.

If you have any problems, feel free to ask!
