I’ve just found out that Imagify is conflicting with WordPress 6.4’s new native lightbox functionality whenever we have the “Display images in WebP format on the site” option turned on as <picture> tags.

Not only it affects the size of the images when expanded in the lightbox (they sometimes don’t appear correctly or appear cropped), but when the lightbox is closed, the site’s scroll gets stuck/broken.

    Any help here, please?!

Same here. Disabling the display WebP option through the settings fixes the issue but also removes the webp image format. Hope there’s a fix soon.

The only reason I use Imagify is because of WebP, so disabling it isn’t an option for me…

    Hi @rfischmann, @mpmarino

The solution in this case would be to choose the rewrite rules way to display your WebP images as sometimes the picture tags may be risky(additional information https://imagify.io/documentation/my-images-are-broken/) unless you are using Cloudflare/ CDN.

Further than the above and if you are not able to use rewrite rules another suggestion in order to fix the <picture> tag method, is that you can try to use?this helper plugin?as it should fix broken layouts. Just install and activate it.

Feel free to let me know if the above helped.

@wp_media Switching to rewrite rules isn’t an option for us, as we do use Cloudflare’s Cache Everything feature.

As for the helper plugin, it seems that ZIP file is corrupted.

    Hi @rfischmann

I will have to inform you that we have created a GH issue regarding the new lightbox functionality conflict with Imagify so we will check this further. You can track the progress from the following link https://github.com/wp-media/imagify-plugin/issues/758

Regarding the helper plugin, I am sorry about that you can find it again here.

Let me know if you need further assistance. I’ll be happy to help.

    Best Regards,

It does seem the helper plugin fixes the issue with the native lightbox, @wp_media, and it also seems I can remove that additional CSS for resized images — correct?

    Cheers!

Thank you very much for the update regarding the helper plugin.

Indeed, the helper plugin should help for resized images as well and you could remove the additional CSS.

    Ok, thanks!

So will the next Imagify update incorporate what this helper plugin does?

    (@rfischmann)

@wp_media Hi, any ETA on an update for Imagify that incorporates the fix from the helper plugin? Thank you.

@rfischmann the following PR on Gutenberg will fix the issue https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/57089

    It’s currently on pre-release.

I don’t have an ETA, but it’s currently on pre-release. It shouldn’t take long before it’s officially available for the Gutenberg plugin and scheduled for a WordPress core release.

Enjoy your weekend, and happy new year in advance!

Oh, so it’s an issue in Gutenberg, not in Imagify? Interesting!

Thanks for letting me know. Happy 2024!

@wp_media So, just to confirm, as of WordPress 6.5 that helper plugin isn’t necessary anymore? Can I disable and uninstall it?

    Thread Starter Rafael Fischmann

    (@rfischmann)

    Hello?…

Yeah I don’t think this is an Imagify issue. I get the same error on a website without Imagify installed. And it seems to work fine on the basic core 2024 theme.

It does seem the helper plugin is still necessary, as per my testing.
