    Hi there,

I migrated recently from WP Rocket and Imagify to SG Optimizer. My questions are related to media optimization.

    1) I generated Webp copies but I’m not sure if I have to optimize as well. I removed Imagify but I’m not sure if the image optimization from that plugin is still somehow present. I’m afraid to optimize images through SG Optimizer in fear of optimizing the optimized images and losing quality. What should I do?

    2) Through the Network tab on Chrome inspector I checked if Webp images are served correctly and discovered that although some images are served as Webp, some of my other images are still served as png & jpg. Can you help?

    Thanks in advance.

There are two options – image optimization and webp generation. Keep images optimization off if you don’t want to risk the quality of your images.

The webp functionality copies original images in webp format. You can delete them and regenerate them if you are not happy with the selected quality. It is safe since we don’t modify the original files.

As to your other question, we make webp copies only of images that are part of the WP media library. If there is one simply uploaded and used by your theme for example it will not get a webp copy.

You can import those images to the library and regenerate the webp images. Check out this plugin for that purpose https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/media-sync/

    Thanks for the reply!

The problem with Webp images is not related to Theme images. On my first page, I found that the images not served as Webp were not attached to some product. I fixed that through the media library and expect them to be served correctly. (I suspect that because similar images that were attached to some product where served correctly)

On other pages such as catalog pages (WooCommerce) the problem persists. Some are served correctly some aren’t. I checked and the images were attached to products. I also checked on my host and webp images were present.
