It would be great if Photonic could support Imgur, either their albums or – even better – individual image links.

I must confess I have never really considered Imgur as a serious image sharing platform! Truth be told I don’t even see Instagram as one – definitely not in the league of SmugMug or Flickr.

That being said, are you asking me to include Photonic support for single images from Imgur? I am wondering if this is a reasonable workaround:

    1. Use the standard WP image insertion dialog, which lets you specify external URLs
    2. Specify the Imgur image URL there (not the page, but the image itself)
    3. Enable the Photonic lightbox for non-Photonic images via Photonic → Settings → Generic Options → Generic Settings → Photonic Lightbox for non-Photonic Images

The reason I am suggesting this is that I don’t see an Imgur implementation on my horizon for the next few months at least. I am a full-time professional who builds and supports Photonic as a hobby and for fun, and I am currently going through a massive spike in my workload at my day job. There is one critical item that I need to address for Instagram for the next release of Photonic, and I am committed to getting that out of the way. But adding support for a new API is considerably harder (particularly making additions to the “gallery builder wizard”).

Sayontan – Thanks for the quick response!
Thanks for the suggestion! Your workaround works great!

I didn’t realize you could add an URL instead of a local image when uploading to the WP media gallery.

    Thanks again,
    Frank
