Implement Akismet into Own Contact Form?

I’ve build my own contact form into the footer of the blog, to avoid spam I’d like to make use of Akismet. I know that this is possible and I was wondering if you know any resources to accomplish this.(?)

Or would be a better idea to use a captcha insteaad?

Is there an easy way to check if any wrong mails got into the SPAM folder when using Akismet? The SPAM number from my comments is over 400, kind of annoying to always check if the wrong comment landed into the SPAM folder.
