The CSV Importer is what we suggest, even if that Plugin is not been updated a while, it works, it’s simple, and doesnt break.
there are other, paid, free and more solutions, I tested some, and all are simply too complex, for the simple tas of importing some data.
And yes, this doc was updated by me personally, it works exactly as elaborated in taht DOC, not more, not less.
The point is that some things can not be supported, such as complex Fields, or (for now) Hierarchical Custom Taxonomies.
I am making tests on that, but it is not elaborated or supported for now.
Please also keep in mind that this is not a Types feature. Types allows you to create contnet.
The importer plugin is not ours, and there are several other Plugins compliyng the same task
