Hi there. Was wondering if it’s possible to import csv data or some other way to speed up bringing in 400+ points on a map.

    Thanks!

Do you have an idea when you might implement this? If it’s in the near future I would feel more confident in incorporating your plugin into our site.

I have no idea how much work that would be for you, so I understand if it’s not something you can do soon, but it would be helpful to know if you can.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. I was planning to implement this sooner than later. I was wondering if we could discuss how you wished to implement 400 pins on the map, will it be on the single post will be divided across multiple posts.

My skype id is php.webdeveloper.me, if we can discuss this, it would help the development process.

Hi Chandi- Thanks for getting back to me.

I would like to place pins on a single post if possible. I produce a radio program that airs in 400+ communities in US and Canada. If I needed to do a map/post for US and a separate one for Canada, that might work. It would be easier for me to put the information in a CSV file and import than it would to manually go through the process of entering each individual station/community.
The fields I would be importing would include:
    latitude
    longitude
    City, State/Province
    station call letters
    radio frequency
    air day
    air time
    web url

I would be willing to skype if that was helpful to you.

    Hello Kent,

Thank you for the feedback. It wont have the exact fields you need here since this does not match the the plugin’s data structure.

I will get back to you on this once developed.

    Thanks Chandi-

I’m sure I will be able to rename fields to match or adapt to whatever you develop. Thank you for your interest in this. Do have an idea of how long it will take to develop?

    Have a great day!

    Hello Kent,

I have implemented this feature, I am undergoing some testes since we underwent issues importing 400-500 pins.

I hope to get this sorted soon and make it live.

I will update you once this is live.

    Hello Kent,

I have added an option to import CSV data for multipin map. Please make sure the data should be in the format specified in the template.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Chandni.

Thanks for your work on this. Unfortunately, I am not having success at importing a csv file. I downloaded the template and added latitude, longitude, marker title, and marker content information in rows 2 and 3. I did not change the column names that are in the template. I saved the file and then chose the import pins csv option, uploaded the csv file, selected it, but it did not import anything.

Any ideas? I can send you the csv file if you wish.

Also, I noticed that in the “Enter Map Pin” setting that when I am typing in any of the dialog boxes like Marker Content… if I stop typing for more than 2 seconds the box outline turns from blue to grey and I can no longer type in the box until I select the box with the mouse again and click. I’m a slow typer so that gets frustrating to have to keep selecting the dialogue box with the mouse to continue typing. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Kent,

I would like to know if new pins were created once the import was completed? Also could you please let me know if you updated the the post once the pins appeared?

You can also reach out to me on Skype or via email. You can share your screen and show me the issue you issue you are facing for my better understanding.

    Regards,
    Chandni
