• Hi.

I screwed up everything on one of my blog.

I deleted the the core files of WP and didn’t know what to do at that time. Now I learned that just re-uploading the core files and editing the wp-config.php file would have solved the matter but…

Because of not knowing what to do I backed up my database and then deleted it for a fresh install (As I said I didn’t know what to do). Then I realized that my posts .xml backup was old and so now I’m missing some big changes on my blog.

Since I have the most recent database backup I want to locally set it up and derive my posts backup as .xml so that I can upload it online.

I imported the backup and made a local installation but whenever I try to login it takes me to my online site.

What should I do to resolve the matter? Is there and other simpler way for this kind of matter?

    Thanks.

  • If you have the database, why don’t you just directly upload it onto your website? Then, your blog will be back to the way it was.

The reason that your local installation is redirecting to your website is because of the website URL settings in your database. You’ll have to manually go into the database (phpMyAdmin) and edit those settings to your local installation. This may help
