Import Directly in to MySQL DB?

If there isn’t an import routine you might want to try installing WordPress, then do a Manage->Export to create an XML (WXR) file that you can use as an example to build your own XML file with your old content, then use Manage->Import->WordPress to import it.

I’m running into the same issue – I have an old content table which I have adjusted to match the structure of the posts table – what I’m not sure is how to map the old content categories into the wordpress table. ANy ideas?

Categories are no longer in their own table but are part of the taxonomy tables that contain post categories, post tags, and link categories.
