Import/Export settings seems broken

  • First off, thanks for the great plugin – it’s an integral part of a theme I’m building and you’ve built it to a really high standard, and it’s simple to work with, so hat’s off.

    So with the latest version I was really excited to see a settings exporter, which will allow me to include a file with the theme for demo setup, but it’s not working properly for me. I can successfully generate the JSON file, which when opened in my editor has the correct options saved in it, yet when I import that file back into the plugin, whether on a brand new WordPress install or the one the settings were exported from, it also toggles a bunch of other checkboxes that weren’t part of the JSON dump.

    Any help with this is really greatly appreciated, and if you need any more specifics for troubleshooting, just ask.

    Can you please try this, if not done:

    1. Keep the settings you want and then save them – this will force the plugin to save all settings including the checkboxes that might have been new and not forced saved into the db
    2. Export and check the JSON to see if those checkboxes that got toggled are present in the JSON and in what status
    3. Import and see what happens

    Apologies for being late to reply here.

    Following those steps, which was essentially what I’d already been doing, resulted in the right settings being saved to the JSON file but that’s not what gets applied on importing that same file; in addition to the settings that I manually changed from default, it toggles a number of others too, ticking checkboxes that I’d left blank.

    I’ve tried this with the same outcome on a few different installations now, at least local sites running on Vagrant (which I can’t see being at fault here, really?)

    Are you in a position to send me the JSON via my site? Or give me a rough idea of the settings that were not checked but got checked?

    I can run it on my installs and should hopefully be able to figure out what is going wrong.
