• Hi,

I re installed my wordpress site and imported the posts via the wordpress importer tool unfortunately the media import failed. I copied my wp-content site, but I am unable to view these pictures via media library but the links are not broken.

    Hi,

You’ll want to run a plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/add-from-server/ to get the content added to the database tables before they become visible in the media managers.

    Hi,

I already installed the plugin since that seems the only solution that works. It’s just that I got more than 1000 post with a featured image to update. I thought there would be a faster way to do this by exporting/importing a database in phpmyAdmin maybe.

    Thanks.

Each file uploaded is technically a post, so to do that you would have to import your entire database, with all posts etc instead of using the import/export tools.

The point is I don’t want to import the whole database because I install a brand-new theme and I deactivated many plugins and the theme I installed recommended to install the templates on a new install.

I’m afraid there’s not many other options left then, since the featured image relies on the post ID assigned to the image when it was uploaded, those won’t have the same ID numbers any more when you add them.

I’ve never heard of a theme requiring a fresh WordPress install to work though, themes should be interchangeable at any given time.
