• Starting yesterday, I noticed that one particular Outlook ics fed calendar was publishing repeats of events. It added the events whenever it checked for updates (hourly). Recurring events had been added to that Outlook calendar, but they weren’t showing, only single events. I removed that feed and deleted all it’s events.

I added back the feed, but the feed process never completes. Just says “please wait”. After an hour or so, I refresh the page and the calendar is listed but it’s name is the full ics feed, not the category name it was assigned to. Also, the ics feed is still showing in the “add new subscription” box at the top.

Looking at the calendar, I do not see any of the recurring events. I saw another post saying that recurring events were being skipped.

I’ve added other calendars without recurring events to test, and the “add subscription” process works fine. I’ve rolled back ai1ec to version to 2.3.12 to test. No difference.

Another point that may help is that the recurring events have breaks in the series,e.g an occurrence(s) has been deleted in the series of occurrences.

Here’s the excerpt from the ics file of the recurring event. I noticed when looking at it in notepad that there is a maximum character length. If an item is longer than that length, it continues on the next line, but with an added space to indent it. Is it possible that the ai1ec parser is having problems when a calendar property is longer than 1 line?

Here is the excerpt from the ics file showing the recurring event. Note the EXDATE and UID lines are each longer than 1 line.

Unfortunately, the post doesn’t show the 1 space indent under EXDATE and UID.

I’m having the same issue. I added a recurring event to a Google calendar and that imported fine. The RRULE: line between the 2 calendars is exactly the same (with my test event) but the Outlook one sits at “please wait” and only single events are imported (or the first event of the series). The problem is happening on my local DEV environment and the published site.

The plugin update to version 2.5.1 corrected the problem where the import never completes for me. I’m getting a lot more of my calendar items now but the recurring meetings are still being skipped.

    Hi Billan and cbhtcomputers!

Can you please provide the URL of the calendar ICS file so I can test it?

    Thanks!

I had to recreate the share from a saved ics file that had the recurring events. Here’s the url of the new share:
    https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/cdc368a7167a4e10a98169d1f49a1ba318101945370824274180/calendar.ics

Here is my calendar. It has events on every day of the week (some have 2). You will see days that are skipped each month are the ones setup as recurring events. Thanks for the help!

I noticed that when the ics file with the recurring events was imported back into outlook, the recurring events became a continual every week event with no gaps. The one I was having difficulty with was a recurring event with some of them deleted. So that changes the RRULE statement to list the exact dates (shown in the thread earlier). I can send you the ics file if that will help.

I deleted some of the recurring events in the new share I created for testing to replicate the situation.

    Hi cbhtcomputers!

Splitting data into two lines is not the problem, and I’ve tested here and looks good.

I’ve imported the ICS and the “Choir Rehearsal” event showed on all Wednesdays (until the end of the year) except on these days:

    2016-06-22
    2016-07-13
    2016-07-20
    2016-08-10
    2016-08-17
    2016-11-30

But I noticed something: When I first downloaded the ICS file (after you posted it), it didn’t have the EXDATE rule. I downloaded the ICS file again and the EXDATE rule is there.

Can you try refreshing the feed and see if you still have problems related to recurrence?

    Hi Billan!

I checked your ICS file, imported and I can see the gaps on June 2016, but they are all right as I can see the exception dates in the EXDATE rule. (I checked the Tonny Penna & Friends event and Timmy Maia Performs a Vocal Tribute to the Greatest Jazz Singers event)

Can you tell me on which day and which event should show but isn’t?

    Thanks!

    Calvin,

I just checked the test page I have and 99% of the events are showing up now. I don’t know what changed (new version?). I can see recurring events but random ones are missing.

    Here’s my test link:
    https://www.tippingchairtavern.com/on_stage_2/

6/26 for example is missing (recurring event titled Tonny Penna, Hannah & John)
6/27 (recurring event titled Marty Q Duo)

Odd thing is some of the events right around these are recurring events and they are showing up (Timmy Maia, Rohn Lawrence & Friends).

    Couple of more in July:
One example is 7/16 – Single event (not recurring) titled Joon.

Thank you for all the help!!!!

    Calvin,

When I first created the test share from the ics file I had, it didn’t honor the exclude dates, so I went back and deleted some events. Most likely you pulled the ics feed before I had a chance to delete them, which is why the second one had them. The feed now completes and the events shown seem correct.

But I did notice another issue that I’ve seen before. I’ll start a different thread on it, but it has to do with time not being correct to the calendar time, even if I select that option.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Billan!

I checked some configuration on our side, found a problem and fixed that. Can you try refreshing the feed again?

By the way, can you check if your WordPress cron is running correctly? I’ve just checked the server and saw that the last feed refresh requested by your calendar was made 9 hours ago.

    Hi cbhtcomputers!

    Great news.

    Thanks!
