Many years ago, I used Suffusion Custom Post Types to create two custom post types and a couple of custom taxonomies for my site. The plugin was abandoned by its author almost a decade ago, and its interface became inaccessible with newer versions of WordPress. While the posttypes and taxonomies themselves continue to function without a hitch, this worries me, and I would like to move to Custom Posttype UI. Is there any way to import my the old definitions / move them to the new plugin without damaging my database?

Any hints/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Since I have to believe that plugin didn’t do anything custom for where the posts and terms were stored, much like CPTUI doesn’t do anything custom there, the biggest thing for you would be to just re-register in CPTUI with the same settings, like if they’re hierarchical, or have some custom rewrite slugs and the like. The most important thing for all the post types and taxonomies would be making sure you register them in CPTUI with the same slugs, which are the first fields presented at the top.

Thank you, that is very helpful and I will try that. Getting the settings is a bit tricky b/c I cannot access the plugin’s UX any more, but I hope I can recover them using WP-CLI.

I wonder how readable they’d be if you opened up something like phpmyadmin and read them off straight from the database.
