Import from Sermon Browser problems

  • We have been happy users of Sermon Browser for several years, but it has just stopped accepting new files, so we are trying to switch to Sermon Manager. We have, however, encountered some serious challenges with the import from Sermon Browser.

    First, the Date Preached field doesn’t seem to come across, leaving that field blank and resulting in meaningless sorting order.

    Second, the Main Bible Passage doesn’t import either, which is a pretty significant drawback.

    Third, not a big deal, but the number of views stat doesn’t import. That would be nice.

    I know this is a bit of a sideline and a work in progress, but at the moment I am utterly stymied by both Sermon Browser and Sermon Manager. They also use identical shortcodes so I can’t use them simultaneously or I would leave the old messages in S.B. and just start putting the new ones in Sermon Manager.

    Fixed in 2.9.3. Just install the update and it will fix the dates automatically.

    Second, the Main Bible Passage doesn’t import either, which is a pretty significant drawback.

    This should also work. I’ll check this one out too as soon as I get the email

    Just FYI, we have fixed number of views (stats) importing. They will work now, you just need to install latest development version and do a re-import (content won’t duplicate)

    To install development version, please do the following:

    1. Download development version from here
    2. Deactivate & delete existing plugin (data won’t be removed)
    3. Install & activate development plugin

    Note: You will get all future updates normally.

    I confused Sermon Browser’s Main Bible Passage with Series Engine’s.

    Sermon Browser passage is coming really soon, as a matter of fact, it might even be ready tomorrow.

    You won’t have to import anything again, they will show up automatically.

    And no, you don’t have to send any logins to me. ??

    I still have a problem with the order of the imported sermons. The old sermons are sorted somewhere close to the new ones, and sermons from last year now show up at the very end. Any idea on how to correct that?

    Yes, I updated and theyre still in the same order. I tried reimporting too.
    It has the last sermons I originally posted in Sermon Manager, then a few from the last years, then some more from this year. I have absolutely no idea what order they’re placed in

    Hey, that is weird. The order issue is because sermon_date meta is probably not set for some unknown reason. We had a fix recently that it should have fixed it, but it appears that it haven’t in your case.

    Could you please send us temporary WordPress admin logins to [email protected] so we can check it out?

    Hey, sorry, I found the problem on my side.
    I am using the plugin ‘post types order’ to sort blog entries. It was set to automatic, so it also ordered the sermons.
    After turning that off, the correct order is displayed.
