Import from Typepad

I’m trying to import 3-4 years of posts from my Typepad account (text and images). The instructions mention importing the exported file to the wp directory. Where can I find this directory? Also, the exported file I received from Typepad is a zip file filled with jpegs, not a .txt file. Can I still import it? Any advice would be helpful. I’m new to WordPress.
