• hi,

I moved to a new server several months ago, they uploaded and set up the xml file from my old wordpress site. I have a couple of problems that they can’t help with, but have searched online and the www.ads-software.com data base and not found the answers.

    WordPress 2.8.4.
    PressRow theme
    greenesrelease.com

Since moving, I have to access my index, folders and files via frontpage only. The file system is different now, and it is hard to import images and figure out the correct links. I think it is something to do with their files are under Public_html

The ‘import’ function in my dashboard gives this message when I click on the WordPress link:
“Before you can upload your import file, you will need to fix the following error: Unable to create directory /home/lifei/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2012/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

The home/lifei directory is from my old server..

I viewed the server’s wp-config.php file and it seems fine, although it was not in the wp-includes folder, but underneath it in the public_html folder with other docs that shouldn’t be there (images, webpages, etc.)

I want to fix these issues so they don’t interfere with updating to 3.5 and a new theme. But I need simple steps because I haven’t done anything other than pages/posts/etc in the last few years so my wordpress knowledge is limited to newbie status.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Janet
