    Hi

I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue in the free version of WooCommerce. I’m using the built-in import/export.

I have imported a CSV file with 9 variables (Products) and 138 variations. In reality, the import created 9 Variables and 264 variations. Basically, it has duplicated most of the variations.

I have a screen print the upload which states that 13 products have been uploaded with 134 products updated. Totally different from what has actually happened.

I’ve been through the export reports and reconciled them, once I remove all the duplicate variations then the CSV file upload and export do match.

I have logged this with woo but as it’s free I think I’m supposed to come here first.

Any ideas on what to do – My site is updated, is this a known bug??

    Thanks for your time

  • Hello @tess44 ,

    That’s an interesting problem.

This is not a known bug and I have tested it in the latest WooCommerce. There were no duplicate variations after the import.

Couple of points that I will recommend to make sure –

    1. The product ID or SKUs are unique while you are adding new products via import.
    2. Remove any orphaned variations from WooCommerce > Status > Tools
    3. The variations are created following the correct CSV format & schema.
    4. Try to import the products while having only WooCommerce activated. Deactivate other plugins during the test.

You can also share a link to your CSV file. I can check the structure and also test it to see if there are any problems with it.

    Thank you ??

    Hi Rashed

Thank you for your response, the product ID is left blank and the SKUs are unique – they get rejected otherwise. I believe the CSV format & Schema are correct, we’ve uploaded thousands of products in the last 6 months with no issue so this is a head-scratcher.

If would be great if you’re happy to have a look.

    Thank you

    Hello @tess44 ,

I have used the file you shared UPLOAD - SS21 Clothes.csv and imported them to my local site.

The imported notice is exactly what is expected – 147 products (9 variables & 138 variations). I can confirm this from these 9 variable products in my product list – https://prnt.sc/10d17ya.

Since you have the notice that says 134 products updated, I assume you have these variations already added in the system. Can you please try again to remove the orphaned variations from WooCommerce > Status > Tools?

I noticed some custom columns like Department, Sub-department in the CSV file but those should not be a problem as it worked for me. Please go through the existing products and try to import them while you have only WooCommerce activated.

    Thank you ??

    Hi Rashed

Sorry, I had to take some time out. I’ve removed the orphaned variations and that’s not made a difference. I am now going to update Woo and then test the plugins.

Thanks for your support ; )
