• I want to import static HTML files into WordPress as posts or pages.
I found the plugin “HTML Import 2”, which copes with its task but relinking does not work. This seems to be due to the fact that the plug-in support was discontinued about 3 years ago and now there are errors in its operation.

Are there any alternatives to using this plugin?

No plugin suggestions, sorry. If all else fails and the importing otherwise works and the links merely need simple, logical modification, maybe a database search and replace utility could solve your problem.

For example, if all the old links are similar to example.info/foobar.html and need to be converted to newsite.info/foobar/ (“foobar” being the only variable), this can be done with a database utility that accepts regular expression search criteria, such as the one from interconnect/it. The utility can be rerun several times to account for various link structures. The key is to be able to capture a particular variable in the search and use it in the replacement of that instance.

Sort of like rewrite rules in .htaccess, but done once permanently instead of on every request.
