Import issues

  • I need to export the contents of one WP.org site and import them to another, but I’m running into some issues. The tutorials I had read said that I could export the blog as a file and save it to my desktop, and then import that same file from my desktop to my new site.

    But when I go to Tools>Import, I don’t have that option. Instead, I’m told to download a plug-in that will import the necessary files by supplying the appropriate IP address and log-in information. I did that, but when I did the next step (activating the plug-in) I received an error message about a missing header. Now the plug-in does not appear on my plug-in list and when I try to upload and activate it again I’m told that the file already exists, and no information was actually imported from my old blog.

    Has anyone else run across this problem?
