• I’m looking to import my premium content channel into my default channel. I’ve tried using the “other feed” and putting in the podcast channel feed URL to import but it comes up empty.

I tried exporting the posts to XML format and then re-uploading but that also failed. Any other suggestions?

Is the premium feed URL you’re trying to import from currently locked or behind some kind of paywall? PowerPress won’t be able to import that feed if it’s blocked at all.

Ahh geez, yes it is. I started doing it manually, Wish I had checked my messages. Let me see if that will work. Fingers crossed.

still not working even with the protected content off and cache cleared.

probably won’t do it because it’s on the same site. I can’t say for sure. That’s okay, I’ve only got about 400+ more to go LOL.

If I try to validate the feed at https://partyfavorz.com/feed/premium-content/ I get a 503 error message. If I try to load the feed in Google Chrome, I get what looks like parked page. This makes me think there’s still something happening server side that’s blocking access to the feed.

You know what, my brain is fried. I also forgot about the parked page. I was dealing with the “premium content” issue feed not working for most of this month; that I finally threw in the towel and decided to take the site back to free and soley rely on donations.

I literally am exhausted. Let me try again without the block and I’ll let you know.

So I took down the block and it appears it was successful but there is no way to confirm because I cannot view the new default feed only the one under podcast channels which only shows the number that I had imported into it.

I tried deleting the main ‘premium content’ feed and I get this message:

Cannot delete feed. Feed contains 554 episode(s).

Damned if I do, damned if I don’t.

Back to putting them in manually probably all for not since I can’t find a way to export the entire damn thing into an XML file.

PowerPress won’t let you delete a feed with episodes in it. So, you’d have to delete the episodes before you can delete the feed. I’m gonna ask Angelo to look over this thread in case there’s something I’ve missed.

Hey Shawn, don’t bother Angelo. I took it head-on several days ago to change the podcast to the default channel one by one. With almost 600 podcasts, I’m down to 81.

I was using the default channel for 20 minute previews and the custom podcast channel as premium protected content for subscribers only.

Since I’m flipping it so that it’s open to everyone; I’ve been copying the protected and overwriting the 20 minute previews in the default. I’m on my last category and checked the feed to ensure there wasn’t anything I missed and it appears I’m spot-on.

I just hope that once I am able to delete the premium podcast channel that all of the podcasts in the default channel show up in it’s place on my site otherwise, I’ll be posting back to this thread or creating a new one. Fingers crossed.

I just wasted 4 days moving all 574 podcasts from my premium content feed to my custom channel podcast feed only to find out that you CANNOT revert back to the default channel feed or even make it appear again unless you delete all the files in the custom default podcast channel. Only then can you uncheck the box to rid yourself of the custom podcast channel option to go back to a normal feed and add categories.

Once I imported all of the files to what I thought was the correct feed channel (they appear to be one and the same but they aren’t even though it indicates you’re successful and confirms the number of files imported), I pulled out my trusted plugin to search and remove all enclosures in the post meta database.

Only then was I able to uncheck the custom podcast channel box under settings.

It has now gone back to the standard feed but guess what? I have an empty feed. It makes more sense to be able to uncheck the box under settings and just have your default custom podcast channel feed revert back to the default channel feed. See how confusing this is?

Now, I will spend another four freaking days manually re-adding each file to their respective post because there is no way to export and save the feed to my desktop prior to diving into the pool head first.

Kiddies; don’t try this at home and don’t EVER delete your default feed when you think you want to use the custom podcast channel setup. That’s on me but in such cases; there really should be a way to backup your feed before performing surgery on it.

I don’t know which is making me more angry; deleting all the content in my feed (not that I had a choice) or this election. Both are definitely making me sick. I’m going to bed.

    Hello @kjam,

I understand and sympathize you have been having a difficult time importing and migrating data.

Are you now all set or are you still having problems?

    Thanks,
    Angelo
