  • I’ve found the Add From Server plug-in, so can get my images into Media Library.

But is it possible to add image data (caption, description, Alt text, date, etc) using the CSV Importer plug-in?

Did you guys had any luck on this. I’m trying to add image thumbnail with image_thumb but with no effect.

    Sorry guys,

I haven’t worked on this for months, nor have I found a solution. At the time I spoke on the phone with someone VERY familiar with the plugin and he couldn’t figure out how to get it troubleshot. So I only have the solution for the featured image. But when I have multiple images (which I do for every product), I don’t know how to add a URL as an attached image.

Thanks activestatedesigns! What you are saying is that you have managed to import featured image. I’m trying the image_thumb in 3.2.1 and it is just not doing anything.
    Any suggestions please?

    Hey Dompl,

Well as I mentioned I haven’t worked on this for months so I can’t really remember exactly what I did.

But have you uploaded your featured image to your media library? I remember I uploaded my image there first, then I added the URL to the image_thumb in my csv.

    See if that works,

I found where the featured image is referenced, it’s a different table in the database.

CSV Importer plugin is only working with the wp_posts table.

It needs to also work with the wp_postmeta table.

there’s a thumbnail_id in there an the value is the ID # of the image that’s uploaded into the media section of WordPress.

That’s about as much as I can figure out by editing the SQL database manually. I was able to change the ID# to a different one and my post now has a different featured image.

But, I don’t know how to automated this, the CSV Importer plugin would have to be rewritter to allow for featured image support.

    thumbnail_id

that’s exactly where I have been hitting my head for the past few weeks. I have to mass upload hundreds of posts with a featured image.. Because it’s not a migration from another wp site it can’t work with thumbnail_id, which assumes there’s already a relationship established via an ID between post and image.

Still scratching my head on how to accomplish this…
