When specifying the image urls for products, does this plugin download the images and store them into wordpress?

If so, is it possible so that the images are not downloaded into wordpress and instead references the images externally? In other words, keep the product images hosted externally?

    Hi @jeffylube,

The plugin will download the image from the external URL and store it in the uploads directory of WordPress.

By default, WordPress does not support hosting the product image externally. It requires the image file to be present in the uploads directory of your site. Could you please mention whether you are able to set an externally hosted image as the product image manually.

    Hello

Yes, I was going to use one of the plugins that support external images, such as Featured Image from URL. By doing so, I had envisioned a simplified workflow that would speed up the importing of products, as I would have all the product images already uploaded to public google storage bucket or elsewhere. This way, I don’t accumulate an unnecessary library of images for seasonal products that are changed frequently.

    Hi @jeffylube,

If you are using any third-party plugin on your site to host product images externally then those data will be stored as additional metadata in the database.
This version of the plugin does not support import/export of additional metadata. You may have a look at the premium version of the plugin which supports additional metadata.
