• I wanted my individual entries to have the same ID number in WordPress as in MT. So, Ia€?ve got a minor hack of the import-mt.php, along with an export template for MT that adds entry IDs and some instructions. The export template alone can also be used to split up exports for those who have time-out problems exporting or importing (it does it by “lastn=” rather than by month or category). If you want to use it that way, take out the line that says: POSTID: <$MTEntryID$>
Here’s the link to mt-numeric-import.zip. Use at your own risk.
Yes, the database import will will change the auto-increment start on the posts so that, for example, if your last post imported is number 2333 the next post you post on WP will be 2334.

  • katkin, I wonder what it will do if, say I have a few posts already in a wp install, say about 10, and mt has posts 1 through 10 too.
In other words, does this need a blank wp install to begin with?
Thanks for sharing it with everyone ??

Yes, it does need a blank install. Or at least no duplicate ID numbers!

P.S. You could renumber the ones you have in there (via PHPmyAdmin or something) but you’d have to be careful to also renumber associated comments and such.
