• I’m getting an “All done. Have fun!” message after trying to import a 4.31kb XML file from my WordPress.com blog to my new hosted www.ads-software.com blog. The export file should be working correctly. I’ve viewed the script. How can I solve this?

  • for a file that large, you will need to run the import script multiple times
nothing is destroyed or overwritten – just keeps adding to what is already imported

Thank you, samboll. This is really important to me and I’ll do it all day if I have to, but how many times is “multiple around”? 10 times? 15? 20? I appreciate your speedy response and advice.

Update: After a few more tries, I’m getting the following messages:
    1. Post “About” already exists. 2. Post “Temporary Maintenance” already exists. I’ve deleted the “About” page and “Temporary Maintenance” post and tried again, but to no avail for my new blog.

is it adding anything to the count or stopping at that?
I’ve done this several times and it has worked.

I had the exact problem and I finally got all my posts on www.ads-software.com by omitting the download attachments option when importing the wordpress.com blog file.

I was so relieved and did my victory dance right there at my desk.

I still have issues with RSS widgets not working – they are not streaming, no badge visible, just text. Even Flickr pluggin widget not streaming images, just text description of photos. If anyone has a reference for widget issues let me know.

Thank you, Joann. It didn’t work out for me, so I redirected from my host back to WordPress dot com. How did you omit the download attachments option? If I can do this, I’ll be doing a victory dance, too! I could live with the RSS widgets not working even though it’s a nice resource.
