Hi. I’m a Brazilian user and my english is poor. Sorry.
I swear that I read all tutorials that I find, and all FAQs, and all forums, but don’t find the answers for my questions, maibe because of my poor english. Sorry.
I install WordPress in free Byethost using Fantastic and create a MySQL DB… and my site is working perfectly.
But I want use my actual blog WP.com (www.germanocwb.worpress.com).
I ceate the XML file (3,6 mb) and try upload my old blog wordpress.com using Import/Export in WordPress Manager, but the limit to import in PHP admin is 1 Mb.
Then I zip (rar) the file (526 k) and import using the WordPress Manager, but now I can’t find it in anywhere.
    My questions:
Where I find this file to unzip?
Can I upload the XML file using FTP?
If yes, where I have to upload and how to?
    If not, any suggestion?

    Tks
    Germano

  • bump up–i’d like to know about this too.
My import is failing through the rss import tool in the dashboard. 1.8 MB file should go, looks like it has (get the “Have Fun” message), but no data imported.

I believe the import will use a gz (gzip) file but if that doesn’t work you may have to break the XML file into ‘valid’ pieces before importing.

And unfortunately, you can’t FTP the file to your host and then use that.
