    Jordy,

I thought I posted this the other day … but I can’t find it so apologies if I am repeating myself.

On a site where I have imported just the posts and media I noticed that all files were now unattached, as I understand it Media Cleaner can resolve this issue, but … what’s the issue with having unattached media ?

As I could not find this anywhere I thought I would ask the expert !

The same thing seems to occur when I add a featured image using admin columns.

btw – I am so impressed with the speed of the LITE plugin and I been using WP/LR sync for years – so I am looking for an excuse to go pro here.

    よろしくお願いします

    Hi,

I am really sorry for the late reply ??

Media Cleaner doesn’t resolve it; it actually ignores the “Attached To” field on WordPress since it doesn’t mean much (it’s barely a visual indicator, though it could be actually used technically as well).

There are no issues with having unattached images. In fact, images can be used in many parts of WordPress, sometimes even at numerous and different places; but this field only allows to attach an image to one Page or Post (more specifically, one post type).

no worries Jordy, thanks for replying.

Some reading lead me to a memory of an old gallery plugin, or maybe wordpress version which used attached images to populate the gallery.

anyway I think I finally got it

Media cleaner pro scans for used images…, and does not reattach images (this function seems to be mostly redundant), but rather acts as a safe guard from deleting images which are actually in use.

Seems invaluable since most sites I look after are full of so called unattached images which makes cleaning all but impossible without out such a utility.

    cheers
