I recently deleted the WordFence plugin from a website I duplicated as a staging site for redevelopment. Since the staging site was closed to the public, there was no need to have WordFence installed into it.

When I uninstalled WordFence, I made sure to select the “delete all data…” selection to remove all WordFence data.

Unfortunately that did not work, because I had trouble using the WordPress “Quick Edit” function for pages or posts, it was not saving any changes.

Further investigation found WordFence was blocking the function on the staging site.

To fix that problem I installed WordFence Assistant, used its features to disable and delete all the various functions, including deleting left over database entries etc.

That resolved the issue, and now the staging site functions properly.

This plugin proved valuable, because it simplified the fix process, else that process would have been arduous trying to track down some coding entry or database entry left behind by WordFence.

I said all the above to ask you to please UPDATE this plugin.

    Thanks for the feedback, @lospeso

Regarding the blocking that was occurring with the Wordfence plugin installed, it may be that you needed to use Learning Mode to allowlist the functionality. You can read about that here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/

Using the option to “Delete all Wordfence tables and data” when deactivating Wordfence should remove all the tables from Wordfence, unless there are any permissions issues on the site at the time.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Thanks for the reply.

I posted this to encourage you to keep WordFence Assistant available as a plugin and to keep it updated to address issues like I had, thank-you.

Maybe you could update the date of the plugin, even if it still works as is, a bit odd that a company that specializes in security and alerts/help on updates has not updated one of their plugins for over 2 years.
