Imported posts using WXR file all have the same date

    I migrated my site over the weekend, managed to delete my database and I’m working on a recovery and hit a snag.

    The challenge I’m facing at the moment is that the most complete archive from my site is an XML export from the site itself which I downloaded before I migrated. When I import it using WordPress Importer it either stalls (its a 23MB file) or when it imports, all the imported posts are dated the day of the import. The XML file seems to have accurate publication dates in the metadata though.

    I didn’t make a current backup of my SQL database so the latest version I have takes me to about 2011 or so. If I can find a fix for this publication date issue with my XML export, I think that will bring my site up to date. I’ve been looking for discussions about this issue and haven’t found anything recent so I’m wondering if you can point me in the right direction?

    One of the people I spoke to about this issue thinks this may be a server issue. I use shared hosting from Hostgator and I am in the process of contacting them about this issue.
