I am using UltimateMember and the plugin import-users-from-csv-with-meta. If I attempt to login using a manually created user, it all works fine. If I try and login using an imported user, the login fails with the ‘too many redirects’ error. As far as I can tell there is no difference between these users, but obviously something is different…any help would be appreciated! Pretty much stuck at the moment…

A little more detail on this. It isn’t strictly related to imported vs manually created users. I was able to get an imported user to behave correctly after changing the roles on/off at different levels and then this user eventually started working. However, another imported user, in all ways identical to this other user, generates the too many redirects error. Same role, same configuration – just two users – one can login successfully, another cannot. Strange problem…

    Hi @rodandar

After the user import, have you tried clearing the User cache in the WP Admin > Ultimate Member > Dashboard > see “User Cache” section?

HI, I re-opened the thread as I am still not in a resolved situation. I can resolve the issue if I change the user to be a wordpress admin, have that user login, wordpress forces that user to change their password, then set the user back to be a subscriber and then they can login using the new password without issue. It has something to do with the initial login I think, but I can’t quite figure out what the issue is.

I definitely am finding a plugin conflict between UM and the plugin import and export users and customers. Struggling to find an import tool that will work with UM…

    Hi @rodandar

Have you tried checking this doc for export/import?

Hi @rodandar! do you find a solution, because I have the same issue and it is very annoying.

    Thanks!

    Hi @tikyt @rodandar

In the imported CSV, does it include the encrypted password?

    Regards,

Hi – has there been a solution to this issue? I am facing the exact same problem but I do have one more thing to add to replicate – this only happens when we require the imported users to reset their passwords on first login. The password reset page is set by Ultimate Member and the user is logged out to reset their account and then the browser crashes with too many redirects.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks!

I gave up on the Ultimate Member plugin – it just wasn’t predictable and found what I needed and am using the WP User Manager plugin. Not as much membership functionality, but it has been fairly reliable.

Basically the force password reset doesn’t work with customised login system such has UM, so you need to unset this flag. See https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/unset-the-force-users-to-reset-their-passwords-flag/#post-15938364 for details.
