Import/Export and Search functions

    Hi

    Great new plugin and thanks for all your hard work to date.

    I see that you are very prompt to respond to support questions and that too is appreciated greatly.

    I have tested your plugin on my forum site and it works perfectly.

    However, the following two issues prevent me from moving my forums to your plugin:

    1. No search function
    2. No import/export of forum content

    I note the above functions are on your to do list.

    Any news on when they might become a reality?

    Sadly I dont have an ETA for this yet because I am very busy with some other things. As you already saw it is planned. There is no good way to integrate the WordPress search engine in own tables yet. Import/export scripts can be done easily via SQL/PHP scripts but I dont have large test-data so it is hard for me to test/develop this on my own because I dont use other forum-software.

    When I have some news about it you can find it in the related GitHub tickets. ??

    I will be following the progress of your plugin closely.

    If you address the issues of search and import/export I suspect that bbpress users will migrate to your plugin en masse.

    As an alternative, use a search from Google. Customize search to Forum. Good looks for at topics.

    Thanks Yworld. But the fact that there is still no import/export fuction is a deal breaker. However, I hope that this is at the top of the to do list for this plugin. As soon I am able to import my existing forum content to this plugin I will use it.

    Import scripts are nothing I want to do as a developer of this plugin. There are thousands of other forum systems out there. Each of them are more or less complex. I am willing to provide import-scripts when other community-members want to share there own developed scripts. But if I develop them by my own and provide them as a fixed forum-feature I am enforced to ensure that they are working all the time with every version of my forum-plugin and the third-party forum-plugin.

    This is way too much work and I can’t ensure or maintain this alone.
